Accessing it through a browser is inconvenient and confusing. For example, Google Docs appears as just a list of documents, instead of being contained in the folders in which the file owner created. It is necessary to do Add to My Drive in menu by right click on the each file or folder in order to sync the contents in Shared with me folder with Windows. After that, create a folder, for example Shared Items and move all contents of doing Add to My Drive to that folder. Then open the setting page of Google Drive (My Drive) at Backup Sync icon to choose the Shared Items folder as sync folder. The operation of Move and Add on Google Drive have a different meaning. Move is an action that the file or folder moves to another place and not stay in original place. Add is that some file or folder is given a new place ( new path) to access for the user. That content appearing in 2 or more place is a single entity, of course file volume on the Drive is single too. If you remove or edit some content on one side, its content will be removed or edited at another. Shared with me is the folder to show the link for another accounts file. Any link must be shown in Shared with me and the user cant move the link s in Shared with me. However, the user can add them to My Drive or other location. Then, any chnages made either on my computer or by other GDrive users would all sync I basically want to use Gdrive like Dropbox or Onedrive, including shared with me folders. I already pay for one drive so don;t really want to have to pay for google drive too (adding shared folders to my drive might require me to pay for more space) Google user recommended this Original Poster Alex Regan marked this as an answer Recommended by popular vote Helpful 0 0 Google user 82119 Get Link Report Abuse Recommended Answer Most Relevant Answer Sally Pilkington Yes, any changes made either on my computer or by other GDrive users would all sync. And dont worry, even if adding shared folders to My Drive, Google Drive of the cloud would not require you to pay for more space, however just have to prepare for more space on your local drive if synced. The shared files owned other member, which showing in your Shared with me dont use your storage space, also even after you add to My Drive. According to help page, Your Dropbox storage quota is calculated by adding up the total amount of data in your Dropbox account. This includes all shared folders you are a member of and all files collected from file requests.
